Working for a regional theatre in Farnham

  Our Campaign
FTA campaigns to save the Redgrave Theatre or to establish an alternative community cultural facility with a building of comparable or superior quality in Farnham. The Association is currently opposing plans to demolish the Redgrave, which is entirely suitable for restoration, as there are no plans for its replacement. The Redgrave Theatre is only 35 years old and was constructed using public money which was donated in good faith and trust to assist firstly, Farnham Urban District Council and subsequently Waverley Borough Council, in providing a community cultural based learning and entertainment facility for the people of Farnham.

Mike Simpson - Liberal Democrat votes for FTA!

Mike Simpson - LiberalsThe FTA Committee met Mike Simpson, the Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate for South West Surrey who has pledged his support for our campaign once he has had a chance to read the evidence FTA has collated regarding a theatre for Farnham.

He was so impressed by the numbers of objections we had got against the demolition of the Redgrave, that he has offered to circulate free of charge, an FTA survey leaflet with his own pre election leaflets, to 'once more' test the strength of public opinion on a theatre for Farnham.

This was his own idea. Jeremy Hunt did his own similar survey some years ago, when he was selected as the Conservative candidate. Jeremy found that even more Conservatives than Liberal Democrats supported the idea of a theatre for Farnham - Redgrave or otherwise!  Go to Mike Simpson's website.
